You should not eat these foods when you have Hepatitis C

hep-c foodOne of the most bothersome effects of the Hepatitis C virus is tiredness. Patients often feel low to little energy during the day and even the night and doing even the simplest activities are a real challenge for them.

Food intake is the source of energy for the human body, but the kind of food you consume determines the energy our metabolism has to dedicate to turn that source into the energy that the body needs to properly function.

You should not consume the following foods (or at least not in excess):

  •           Red meat, especially if they contain a lot of fat as found in most hamburgers and sausages. Also, overcooking red meat, changes the protein structure in the meat into a difficult to use condition. Once you eat overcooked or fatty red meat the body needs to divert what little energy it has extra digestion efforts causing a further lack of energy for other body activities.
  •           Sweet candies are known for the burst of energy they produce and are commonly used to help fight work tiredness. The problem with this source of energy is that the spike of energy that the people feel rapidly decreases and aggravates the feeling of tiredness
  •           Alcohol is a glutamine inhibitor also causing a feeling of fatigue almost immediately after consumption. Glutamine is considered a natural stimulant.
  •           High glycemic index foods like white bread and french fries usually cause a spike in blood glycemic levels followed by a plunge in blood sugar levels thus causing fatigue

As in any situation, a well-balanced nutritional diet is very important to help patients fight fatigue that comes with a Hepatitis C infection. Avoiding these foods will help you to fight this bothersome effect of the virus.
