Different types of hepatitis

liver-careThe early stages of the hepatitis are called acute, they can be mild or severe. When the hepatitis last for more than 6 months it is called chronic.

Hepatitis A and E do not reach chronic stages. All other Hepatitis B,C, and D can become chronic, and B and C are especially serious when they last for more than six months.

Many types of Hepatitis virus have been identified:

Hepatitis A: It rarely is life threatening, the person gets infected by consuming water or food contaminated with human waste

Hepatitis B: This Hep virus gets transmitted from mother to child, and also through contact with contaminated blood. This hepatitis is also known as serum hepatitis.

Hepatitis C: it is the most common form of Hepatitis and is transmitted by the contact with blood of an infected person. This is a serious illness that can drive to cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Hepatitis D: This is a less common form of the virus, and usually affects drug users already infected with the Hep B virus. This form of Hepatitis is serous due to the fact that complicates the health situation of the people that are already suffering with the Hep B.

Hepatitis E: This form of the virus is very common in places with poor sanitation. It rarely is life threatening.

Currently there are available vaccines for Hepatitis A and B. The other types of Hepatitis do not have a vaccine.
